About Us
Our Story
Hibah Hope Relief is a Canadian community-led initiative created to provide rapid, respectful emergency assistance to families facing short-term financial hardship.
A single event—reduced work hours, illness, separation, an unexpected bill—can trigger a chain reaction: overdue rent, utility disconnection notices, empty cupboards, and mounting stress. We exist to interrupt that spiral with microgrants that cover essentials and stabilize the situation so a family can regain footing.
We aim to be fast, fair, and accountable:
Requests are reviewed using clear criteria and basic proof-of-need documentation when required.
Where possible, we prioritize vendor-first payments (for example, paying landlords or utility providers directly) to ensure funds are used for the urgent expense.
We treat every applicant with dignity and confidentiality. Personal information is handled carefully and used only for assessment and payment.
Our values
Compassion with structure (helping people and protecting the integrity of the program)
Dignity (no shaming, no public storytelling requirements)
Transparency (clear rules, clear process, clear reporting)
Community impact (small grants that prevent bigger crises)
Charitable registration is currently pending. Donations are appreciated but are not tax-receiptable at this time.
